China Arrests US ‘Spy’ Before Xi’s Washington Visit? Tensions Rise After Trump’s Beijing Meet
China has confirmed the detention of Min Zin, an American-Myanmar scholar and founder of the Institute for Strategy and Policy Myanmar (ISP-M), accusing him of espionage and endangering national security. Beijing says the researcher was placed under criminal measures after being detained in Kunming near the Myanmar border. The US has acknowledged the arrest and says it is seeking consular access. China has not publicly presented evidence supporting the allegations.
